Questions buyers ask us
Bahrain Golden Residency, answered simply.
How much property do I need for the Golden Residency?
A property registered in your name bought for at least BHD 130,000, about USD 345,000. The figure is the purchase price on the title deed. Source: Minister of Interior Decision 150/2025 amending Decision 20/2022.
Why do some government pages say BHD 200,000?
That was the rule from 2022 until 24 November 2025, when Decision 150/2025 lowered it to BHD 130,000. Some service pages have not been updated yet; the decision text is the law.
Do Kuwaitis need it?
No. Kuwaiti and other GCC citizens enter Bahrain on their national ID card and may own property almost anywhere in Bahrain. The Golden Residency is for other nationalities.
Can I combine two properties?
The decision speaks of "properties" and the government page of "deed(s) with a total value", which points to yes. We confirm it with the authority for your case before you buy.
Can I buy off-plan?
You can buy, but the application needs the title deed in your name, so you apply once the deed is issued. The official sources do not address mortgages; we ask before you commit.
Can I work in Bahrain?
Yes, once a work permit is issued by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority; your employer applies for it. A partner in a company needs no permit. Source: Decision 20/2022, Article 5, and the bahrain.bh service page.
Do I have to live in Bahrain?
The old rule that cancelled the permit if you were not in Bahrain for 90 days a year was repealed on 24 November 2025. No minimum stay is written in the rules today. Source: Decision 150/2025, Article 2.
Who in my family can be included?

What does it cost and how long does it take?
BHD 5 to apply and BHD 300 for the 10-year permit, per person, paid online. The government service page quotes 5 working days.
Is it citizenship?
