What happened, in one minute

On 30 September 2026 in Abu Dhabi, Aldar and Arada signed a strategic partnership covering development opportunities worth about AED 15 billion. It has two parts: a joint community at Seih Sdeirah on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai border, and three residential plots on Yas Island that Arada has bought from Aldar. The two companies stay separate; they are building these projects together. The agreement was signed by Jonathan Emery, Chief Executive of Aldar Development, and Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group Chief Executive of Arada, with Arada's Executive Vice Chairman HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal and Aldar's Group Chief Executive Talal Al Dhiyebi.

Why it mattersWhen the developer of Aljada and Masaar builds in Abu Dhabi on land from Abu Dhabi's biggest developer, people will queue for the first release. New communities open in phases, and the first phase is where buyers find the widest choice of plots, views and layouts. Those who are ready before the launch choose first.

What it means for you

For buyers

The first chance is the best chance

Nothing is on sale yet, and that is exactly the point. The people already on the list when the first homes are released get the first pick of plots, views and prices. Waiting until the crowd hears means choosing from what is left.

What the leaders said

Arada's Ahmed Alkhoshaibi called it "the beginning of what we intend to be a long and productive collaboration". Aldar said the Yas Island and Seih Sdeirah opportunities lay a strong foundation for working together, and both companies plan to look at more projects across the UAE.

Abu Dhabi is moving

The timing is no accident. Abu Dhabi real estate transactions reached AED 117 billion in the first half of 2026, AED 86 billion of it in sales, and Aldar's latest launches, Talay and Yas Riva Reserve on Yas Island, brought in more than AED 5 billion of sales.
