Egypt owner residency: one, three or five years from USD 50,000

Under an Interior Minister decree in force since May 2023, owning property in Egypt opens a renewable residency: one year from USD 50,000, three years from USD 100,000 and five years from USD 200,000.

The three levels

USD 50,000 in property: one year. USD 100,000: three years. USD 200,000: five years. All renewable, and the amount can be reached with one property or several.

Or a bank deposit

The same decree also gives one year for a USD 50,000 deposit, or three years for USD 100,000, kept in a bank in Egypt.

Why it mattersMany agents still quote the old 2017 amounts (USD 100,000, 200,000 and 400,000). The 2023 decree halved them, so a North Coast chalet can now come with years of residency.

Where to apply

At the Passports, Immigration and Nationality Administration of the Ministry of Interior, once the home is in your name.

Want more than residency?

At USD 300,000, paid from abroad over up to a year, you can apply for Egyptian citizenship instead. Our Egypt page compares the two.
